Once the rapier of the house's founder, Aerendyl Sylvaris, it was blessed by [[Eilistraee]] after the battle at [[Laphithas Desert|Laphithas]] during the [[Dawn-War]], and has passed between the members of the house ever since. The blade chooses its own bearer, and in some three thousand seven hundred years it has accepted only four. It has chosen no one in the three hundred years since the death of its last bearer, and today it rests in a glass case in the parlour of Amberholt Manor in [[Amberholt]]. ### Appearance Azure's Edge is a long, slender rapier with a blade of bright, silvery steel that shines in candlelight. Its hilt is of gold, an elegant swept guard of curling bars about a grip wrapped in royal blue, capped with a golden pommel. Upon the blade are four runes, one for each bearer it has accepted. ### Properties Like every Moonblade, Azure's Edge is said to have a will of its own, one that strives for light in the world. It chooses its bearer, and will accept only one it judges worthy, both in their skill with the blade and in their character, whatever their blood. Those it refuses are struck with a day of terrible misfortune, and in any hands but its chosen bearer's, it is no more than a fine rapier. Once it has chosen, it serves its bearer until their death, speaking to them through feelings and in their dreams. With each bearer it accepts, a new rune appears upon its blade, and each is said to have awakened a new power within it. Over the centuries, many members of [[House Sylvaris]] have tried to claim the blade, and all but four have failed. ### History Azure's Edge began as the rapier of Aerendyl Sylvaris, a paladin of [[Corellon]] who fought beneath [[Eilistraee]] against [[Gruumsh]] in the Great Meadows of [[Laphithas Desert|Laphithas]], at the start of the third century of the [[Dawn-War]]. After [[Corellon]] struck down the Ruiner and left the battlefield, [[Eilistraee]] blessed the weapons of those who had fought and held the line, and each became a Moonblade. Aerendyl was the first to wield his, naming it Valsatra, and he founded [[House Sylvaris]] with the rapier as its symbol, as it remains upon the house's arms today. Many of the Moonblades blessed that day have since been lost, though some have been found again. Before the [[Dawn-War]] was over, the blade chose its second bearer, Aerendyl's great-niece, Ilythra Sylvaris. It travelled with the house when it left the [[Vianduroz Province]] of [[Illalenora]] for [[Aekacira (Country)|Aekacira]] in 1128 PD, and chose its third bearer in Renval Sylvaris, who became the first Sylvaris Lord of [[Amberholt]] in 1307 PD and did more than any other to make [[House Sylvaris]] the wealthiest house in [[Amberholt]] and in all [[Aekacira (Country)|Aekacira]]. Its fourth and most recent bearer was Renval's granddaughter, Saelis Sylvaris, the mother of Lord Vaelinor.
