### About
Guardian of spring, beauty, and the arts, Corellon is the patron of arcane magic and the Fey. The Founding inspired him to wander the twisted lands, seeding them with the first arcane magics and raising the most ancient of forests. It was by the Arch Heart's hand that the first Elves wandered from the Feywild, and for this reason he is considered the Father of all Elves. Those who seek art in all their work, whether magical or mundane, often worship at the altar of Corellon. He loathes the Spider Queen and her priestesses for leading the drow astray, though still remains close with their daughter, the lesser goddess Eilistraee.
### Depiction
As the personification of all things elven, Corellon was at once a warrior and a poet, a mage and a bard, and a male and a female. However, in his love of Lolth, he settled into the aspect of a male High Elf warrior, a counterpart to her female Dark Elf artist. While he retained the capacity to assume female or male form, he conventionally appeared as an androgynous male Elf possessed of lithe build and preternatural beauty. He always appeared wearing a sky-blue cloak, a large amulet displaying a crescent moon within a circle, and a pair of dazzling gauntlets.
### Divine Domains
Many of the Arch Heart's clerics are granted powers of Arcana, Nature or Light.
### Holy Day
Corellon's holy day is called Elvendawn, or Midsummer. It is celebrated on the twentieth day of the sixth month, and commemorates the Elves' first emergence from the Feywild after the Dawn-War. None elven cultures use this day to celebrate the gift of arcane magic to mortals.
### Commandments of Corellon
- Create, inspire, and find beauty in all that you do.
- Follow the echoes of lost magics, forgotten sites, and ancient art, for within these lie the Arch Heart's first works.
- Combat the followers of Lolth wherever they might be.
### History
- #### The Age of Founding
When the gods first arrived in Aeborhia, Corellon had many forms for every elven aspect. Eventually, he settled into that of a male High Elf warrior when he made Lolth his bride. This was to create a duality with her: male and female, warrior and artist, day and night. He also gave dominion over the Dark Elves to his wife. They had twin children, the elder called Vhaeraun, the younger called Eilistraee, who was favoured by Corellon.
Corellon created the plane of Arborea, a three-layered plane of wonders. He made his home on the layer of Arvandor, where the palace of Crescent Grove sits, surrounded by marble pillars and white trees.
Corellon was one of the main factors of the Schism starting, he granted the power of arcane magic to mortals, allowing them to use magic without divine means. This angered the Betrayer Gods, who had already split off from the Prime Deities, starting a war pitting the newly arcane mortals against the Primordials, and the Prime Deities against the Betrayer Gods.
During the Schism, Corellon fought against Gruumsh, the Ruiner. In this battle, his blade was snapped in two - unbeknownst to him, his son Vhaeraun had caused his blade to break, wanting to gain his father's greater divinity and place in the Pantheon as lord of the Elves. While running for his life to reach Arborea, Corellon was tracked down by Gruumsh and Vhaeraun. It was then that Eilistraee appeared and faced her brother in battle. As the siblings duelled, the two greater gods fought and Corellon disarmed Gruumsh and put out his eye, but the battle ended because he couldn't kill an unarmed and wounded enemy. Because of this moment of time, Gruumsh managed to escape and evaded banishment for another two centuries. When Corellon turned to face his children, he saw that his daughter had killed her brother. This drove both Eilistraee and Corellon to depression for a time, but drove Lolth to madness. She retreated into the underdark and swore vengeance on both Corellon and her daughter.
- #### The Age of Arcanum
Corellon spent much of the Age of Arcanum in Arborea, lamenting over the loss of his wife and son. He would often meet with his daughter between her quests into the Underdark, praising her in her efforts against Lolth when he could not face her. Corellon only left Arborea when the Raven Queen ascended to godhood, wiping the previous god of death from existence and memory. Corellon was among the gods scolded for letting this happen, as he had first given mortals the means for such magic. Together with Ioun, they destroyed the knowledge of the Raven Queen's ritual of ascension. Yet the attempts did not end there, and centuries later one mage, the Archlich Vecna, would succeed by rites of his own.
- #### The Dawn-War
Corellon spent the first two centuries of the Dawn-War in Arborea, still grieving.
At the start of the third century of the Dawn-War, in the Great Meadows of Laphithas in Meksiko, Eilistraee led her army of free Dark Elves against the Ruiner, Gruumsh. Barely holding on against the greater deity and his never ending army of demons, Eilistraee was disarmed and just before the killing blow was struck, Corellon appeared and struck the one-eyed Ruiner down, banishing him to Acheron. According to various myths, as Corellon struck him down, the Ruiner's blood rained down and mutated the elven horselords of Laphithas who rode into battle to aid Corellon. Some were fused with their horses and became the first Centaurs. The blood of both Gruumsh and the demons slayed that day destroyed all plant life in Laphithas, causing the large meadow to turn into the Laphithas Desert known today.
After this battle, the Elves were in high spirits and ready to face the Betrayer Gods at their patron's side. But as quickly as Corellon had appeared, he had left again. The Elves of Corellon instead chose to fight with Eilistraee, with the Arch Heart appearing every so often. Each time he left though, the Elves were further disheartened. Eventually, after seeing their god abandon them time and time again, the Elves retreated into the Feywild.
Corellon did redeem himself near the end of the Dawn-War, when he returned to the Material Plane to aid Kord in defeating Lolth. In the northern mountian ranges of Zeshana, Kord and Lolth fought a long and even battle, with thousands of Drow and warriors perishing. When Corellon arrived at the battle, Kord was at a stalemate with Lolth, and Eilistraee lay injured. Corellon found the strength to let go of his love for Lolth and pin her to the ground, allowing Kord to pierce her heart with his legendary Thunderspear. This resulted in the banishment of the Spider Queen to the Demonweb, her layer of the Abyss formed after the Schism.
- #### Post Dawn-War
After the Dawn-War, with the Betrayer Gods sealed away, Corellon joined the other Prime Deities in leaving the Material Plane for good. He returned to Arborea, not before creating Feywild Portals all around the Material Plane for Elves to re-enter the world. Some Elves went through the portals and set up new civilisations, like the wood Elves of the Guewood. Though in the last Guewood Rebellion against the Stacien Empire, their portal was destroyed.
### Modern Worship of Corellon
The worship of Corellon is most vibrant among Elves, who revere the Arch Heart as both creator and guide, though certain human and half-elven mages - especially those concerned with bloodlines and heritage - also pay homage.
His temples are elegant and often found in the wealthier quarters of cities, places of artistry as much as devotion.
In Illalenora, where Corellon is honoured as the patron deity, his church is woven deeply into society: each province is overseen by a high priest, while noble families maintain their own private house priests to tend to rituals and ancestral rites.
Beyond Illalenora, however, his worship is far less structured, existing as isolated elven-led temples with little unifying authority. It is considered improper for non-Elves to take on the role of priest, and so his faith outside elven lands often remains small, selective, and deeply tied to elvish tradition and identity.
