### About
The pillar of justice, protection, nobility, and honour, Bahamut is a beacon to paladins of order and good, and is revered by most Metallic Dragons as the first of their kind. The crest of the Platinum Dragon adorns many halls of high leadership and justice, invoking his will in all matters of justice. To follow him is to look after those who cannot look after themselves.
### Depiction
The Platinum Dragon is often seen emblazoned on shields and armour, both functional and decorative, in the form of a brilliant dragon head in profile. Temples and works of art depict a massive, glittering dragon with vibrant platinum scales and seemingly endless wingspan.
While mortals generally use silver dragons to represent Bahamut (since their scales are the most similar to platinum among the metallic dragons and platinum pigments are very costly), the divine form of the Platinum Dragon is different: he appears as a gargantuan true dragon of immense wingspan and vibrant platinum scales, although with a combination of features unlike any other, and surrounded by a shiny iridescent aura.
### Divine Domains
Many of the Platinum Dragon's clerics are granted powers of Life, Order or War.
### Holy Day
Bahamut's holy day is called Embertide, and is celebrated on the sixth day of Frostfall. This is a day of remembrance, solemnity, and respect for those who have fallen in the defence of others.
### Commandments of Bahamut
- Stand as a paragon of honour and justice.
- Smite evil wherever it is found, yet show compassion to those who have strayed from the path of righteousness.
- Defend the weak, bring freedom to the persecuted, and protect the ideals of justice and order.
### History
- #### The Age of Founding
In the Age of Founding, Bahamut worked closely with his counterpart Tiamat to create the dragons. Together they created the lesser god Sardior, the Ruby Dragon and patron of gem dragons. Sardior then worked with each of them to create the multiple species of dragons seen in Aeborhia now. With Sardior, Bahamut created the Metallic Dragons, beings of honour and peace.
Like other gods, Bahamut created a plane of existence named Celestia. But unlike other gods, he allowed any god to settle on any of the seven layers of Celestia. Also, any soul of a mortal who worshipped a deity without their own plane, was always welcome to settle in Celestia. Bahamut himself made a floating palace that traverses the layers.
On Aeborhia, Bahamut made his lair in Mount Rexsall, and eventually the city was built by his followers. It is theorised that Rexsall is the only city that survived the Dawn-War. Since it was a city with little arcane magic use, preferring the magic given by divine means, little to no knowledge from the Age of Arcanum remains. The lair is still visited by pilgrims, but only the truly worthy have main their way past the entrance cave.
He remained neutral when arcane magic was bestowed upon mortals, though did push back when the Betrayer God's pushed for the world to be razed and the gods to start again. During the Schism, Bahamut chose to turn Rexsall into a defensive position, and only fought in two battles. The first was fought at Rexsall itself, when Gruumsh led his hordes of orcs against the holy city. With Pelor and his Swords at his side, Bahamut held the city and overcame the Ruiner, and together the two gods cast him into Acheron. The second was also fought at Rexsall, after the death of Sardior, against his counterpart Tiamat, whom he defeated and imprisoned in an unknown layer of the Abyss.
- #### The Age of Arcanum
Bahamut had little to do with the magical and technological advances during the Age of Arcanum. Life in Rexsall carried on as normal, with the people devoting their efforts to Bahamut's divinity. Many of his warriors were now faced with a new enemy in dark mages, those who took arcane magic and used it maliciously. Paladins and clerics of the Platinum Dragon primarily became hunters of evil mages, bringing Bahamut's justice to them swiftly.
- #### The Dawn-War
During the Dawn-War, many of Bahamut's fights were against his evil counterpart Tiamat, the Scaled Tyrant. Bahamut, a being of pure honour and good, decided to create seven golden dragons, treating them as sons and sending them each to a different place in the world. Only two of these had their names recorded in history until 3036 PD, Kaigorith the first-born. He was killed by the Divine Champion of Tiamat near the end of the Dawn-War. And then Zhavrin, the fifth-born and a strong warrior, who stood guardian at the Diskarn Mountains to protect the world from the dangers of Vangrallag, also founder of the Golden Scales.
When Kaigorith was killed, Tiamat marched to Rexsall to present the dead body of his son to Bahamut. It was there that Bahamut, alongside Erathis fought the Scaled Tyrant in a battle that lasted days. Armies of clerics and paladins fought against each other in the name of their gods. At the end of the battle, Bahamut and Erathis stood victorious, with Tiamat sealed in a prison in the Nine Hells, and Asmodeus leaving the Material Plane willingly.
- #### Post Dawn-War
At the end of the Dawn-War, with all Betrayer Gods sealed away, Bahamut put forward the idea for all Deities to leave the Material Plane and form a barrier to prevent any from re-entering the world. This was eventually done in the Divergence.
Bahamut's other five sons remained unknown to history, with no historians even knowing if they are alive, until 3036 when the armies of Orcus invaded Stacia. There, three sons of Bahamut revealed themselves and the others are assumed dead since Ian King revealed he is the last alive;
- Xoddrianteth, the second born. Also known as Ian King, he survived the battle and currently sits as Master of the Arcane on the Rexsall Council.
- Gerathox, the third born. People theorise that he was killed near Eprya and a funeral was held for him in Rexsall before Ian King's marriage to Balthazar.
- Joddrom, the fourth born. Sat on the Rexsall Council as Master of Defence until his death in the Battle of Rexsall.
- Unknown name, the sixth born.
- Freodas, the seventh born. Guarded the continent of Illalenora until his death in the Battle of Rexsall.
### Modern Worship of Bahamut
The worship of Bahamut stands as a pillar of order, structure, and a strong hierarchy that reflects the Platinum Dragon's ideals of justice and protection. Grand temples dedicated to him rise proudly in most major cities, often built of shining stone and silver, while smaller but no less devout shrines serve towns and villages. The largest of these temples stands in Rexsall, with the next largest being in Zhavrin's Gate.
His clergy is composed of priests and priestesses, some granted divine power as clerics while others serve through teaching, counsel, and ritual. Each realm or small kingdom typically has a bishop to oversee the faithful, while continents are guided by a High Priest or Priestess whose voice carries great weight in matters of doctrine and diplomacy. These leaders form a council, ensuring the faith of Bahamut remains unified and vigilant.
Beyond this structure stands the Champion of Bahamut - never a ruler of the church, but an independent warrior or scholar chosen to embody his will in the world, a figure both feared and revered as the god's living blade and shield.
