His hair is dark and cropped short, his moustache neatly trimmed in the Zaenovian style. Across his shoulders and chest are tattoos of his tribal heritage - black markings that tell the story of his lineage and his oath to Pelor's light. He wears the pale robes of his order draped over one shoulder, the eight-pointed sun emblazoned proudly upon his chest, and at his hip rests a curved Zaenovian blade sheathed in ivory and gold. His eyes, sharp and steady, hold the patience of a teacher and the quiet certainty of one who has seen both faith and doubt in equal measure. When he speaks, it is with the calm weight of reason, and when he smiles, it is like dawn breaking after a long night. ### Life of Vorsakko Karesko #### Early Life Born among the hills of Zaenov, Vorsakko Karesko was the son of Chief Karesko Lakkaro, chieftain of a proud tribe of horselords. Though his lineage marked him as heir to the saddle and the spear, his destiny was written in the stars above, not the soil beneath. The nomads of the hills gathered often in Khorathi, to trade, to test their strength, and to elect their High Chief - but the young Vorsakko's heart always strayed from the feasts and contests to the Temple of the Stars, an ancient stone circle open to the heavens. Upon its walls, painted in fading pigments, were the likenesses of every god known to Aeborhia. There he would sit for hours, studying the faces of gods both benevolent and cruel, listening to the tales told by passing worshippers. Whether truth or fable, he remembered every word. On one of these visits, at eleven years old, Vorsakko found a stranger kneeling before the mural of Pelor, clad in polished steel that gleamed against the Zaenovian sun - a sight wholly alien to him. The man introduced himself as Ser Tristan of the Dawn, a Knight of Pelor's Swords. Over the days that followed, the two spoke often; Ser Tristan told him stories of Pelor's light and read to him from the Eight-Pointed Star, dispelling half-remembered myths and filling the boy's heart with wonder. When the time came for his tribe to depart, Vorsakko asked his father's leave to squire for the knight. Outraged that his son would serve a foreigner - and one who “hid behind metal” - Chief Karesko dragged the boy before the temple and challenged Ser Tristan to a duel. The knight accepted, removing his armour and facing the chieftain with only faith as his shield. Though Karesko drew first blood and claimed victory, the sight of a man who stood unflinching before him changed something in the young Vorsakko. When the tribe departed the next day, Karesko left without a son, and Ser Tristan rode out of Khorathi with a new squire. #### Life Vorsakko's years of service were filled with wonder and discovery. He rode through lands he had only ever heard of - Kraesuine, Amberholt, Goldhearth - and beheld the great Hall of the Sun where he saw his master Tristan invested as a Dawnwarden. When Tristan told him it was time to be knighted, Vorsakko requested the ceremony be held in the Temple of the Stars, beneath the open sky of his homeland. There, surrounded by the painted faces of gods, he was made Ser Vorsakko of the Dawn. His knighthood carried him across Aeborhia, serving nobles and kings alike. Yet his greatest test came when he was tasked by Queen Maege Fenrick of Regania to confront Zaenovian raiders threatening Lakegrove. To his shock, the raiders' leader was his own father. The years had hardened Karesko, but not softened his pride; he challenged his son to a duel. Vorsakko, who carried on wearing the attire of Zaenovian warriors, bested him swiftly. The raiders dispersed, and Karesko was brought in chains to Briarhearth, where he was sentenced to ten years in prison. During those years, Vorsakko visited him often, teaching him of Pelor's mercy until, at last, his father died reconciled with the light. By his late twenties, Vorsakko was invested as a Dawnwarden by the First Sword Yenzin, once again beneath the stars of Khorathi. Thereafter, he bore across his chest a linen sash embroidered with Pelor's eight-pointed sun, a reminder of the faith that had guided him from boyhood. When the Paragon of Wisdom passed away, Vorsakko excelled in the funeral games and was chosen by unanimous vote to bear the mantle of The Guiding Star. Now, as Paragon of Wisdom, Vorsakko walks the lands as a mediator and sage, seeking to resolve conflict with counsel before resorting to the sword. Yet when words fail, his blade speaks with conviction - sharp, unwavering, and ever guided by the light of dawn.
