As a noble of [[House Sylvaris]], the wealthiest house in [[Aekacira (Country)|Aekacira]], he dresses in fine clothes, most often in royal blue with gold accents, beneath the long gold cloak of the [[Golden Scales]], with an elegant rapier at his hip. He is rarely seen without his cat, Mr. Peeks, a large and very fluffy long-haired grey cat, who is as often found on Joseph's shoulder as at his feet. Joseph carries himself with the easy charm and confidence of his upbringing, and is as much at home at a feast or a ball as he is on the road. In battle he fights with both blade and spell, his magic taking the form of radiant light, whether cast out in beams or infused into the strikes of his rapier. ### Life of Joseph #### Early Life Joseph was born on the 26^th of Skyrest, 3048 PD, in [[Amberholt]], the third child of Lady Aline Sylvaris and her husband Elandir. He grew up in Amberholt Manor alongside his elder brother Valen, the heir to the house, his elder sister Virel and his younger sister Maelle, beneath the family's ancestral Moonblade, [[Azure's Edge]], which rests in a glass case in the manor's parlour. From boyhood, Joseph was drawn to the sword, and he was trained in the rapier by [[Caelan Liraesol]], an [[Elves|elven]] paladin of [[Corellon]] and a former [[Golden Scales|Golden Scale]], who became his mentor in far more than swordsmanship. When Joseph left [[Amberholt]] to study at the University of [[Aekacira (Country)|Aekacira]] in [[Reedmere]], Caelan re-joined the [[Golden Scales]], and only months later, when Joseph was eighteen, he was lost on a scouting mission into [[Vangrallag]]. Joseph left the university not long after, by his family's account to pursue his own endeavours. #### Life In 3068 PD, Joseph travelled to [[Zhavrin's Gate]] to join the [[Golden Scales]], the order his mentor had served, and was taken on as a Scout. He was placed in the [[Golden Eyes]], an experimental unit of Scouts under Sergeant [[Kwinale Umbantuk]], alongside [[Lewis Hound]], [[Ülf Oaksplitter]], [[Vitalia van Velder]] and the [[Gnomes|gnome]] [[Herbert of Dipular]]. Only a couple of days later, Herbert was killed in [[Vangrallag]]. It was on that same mission that the unit found [[Violet Rose]], sealed within a tower where she had slept for a thousand years, and she joined the [[Golden Eyes]] in his place. [[Zrük Donnervan]], a Guardsman recruited at the same time, has joined the unit more and more often since. On New Dawn's Eve, Joseph signed his contract for the year ahead. The unit quickly proved a success, earning the trust of [[Steffan Redhayn|Commander Redhayn]] and of Queen [[Elvanna Zolarin]] of [[Muxnir]], who has called on the [[Golden Eyes]] herself. In the spring of 3069 PD, Joseph and the [[Golden Eyes]] travelled through [[Minraine]] on behalf of the [[Golden Scales]], visiting [[Elderisle]], [[Thornbank]], [[Valenville]] and [[Reedmere]]. In [[Thornbank]], they rid the town of the creature that had preyed for generations on those who walked alone in the Blackthorn Weald, and in [[Reedmere]] they were received by Queen Marenna Keelwright, only to be swiftly banished from the city. At the end of Starfall 3069 PD, Joseph represented [[Zhavrin's Gate]] with the [[Golden Eyes]] at the Springs Close Tournament in [[Kraesuine]].
