### Appearance and Character
Hugh Parsin is a tall human of Stacien origin, broad-shouldered and striking, the very image of a knight from the old tales. In his gleaming white enamelled plate, bearing the golden sun of Pelor upon his chest, he appears every maiden's dream of a noble champion. Yet behind the gallant image lies a man of quiet humility, his kind eyes and calm presence setting him apart from the boastful warriors of courtly song. His weapon of choice is a greatsword, though he wields it with a grace that contradicts its size - turning aside blows, disarming foes, and subduing opponents without cruelty. To see Hugh fight is to witness the union of strength and compassion, a living testament to Pelor's light made manifest in both steel and spirit.
Yet for all his gallant bearing, Hugh is no nobleman - he is a street orphan from the harbour city of Stoihull. That truth has made him a beacon to the common faithful, proof that Pelor's light shines not only on nobles and heroes of great name, but on any soul who devotes themselves to service. To every child of humble birth who dreams of serving their god, Hugh Parsin is living hope made flesh.
### Life of Hugh Parsin
#### Early Life
Parsin's rise to fame is one of the most unexpected stories in the long history of the Swords of Pelor. An orphan street boy living in the centre of Stoihull in the Stacien Empire, Hugh entered the order as a Squire when a travelling Knight of the Dawn offered to take him on. This wasn't due to any skill at arms or devotion to Pelor, the Knight was elderly and needed someone to tend to him when travelling.
Hugh was diligent and gentle by nature, more often seen tending the wounded or aiding the poor than excelling in duels or battle drills. Though earnest, he was considered unremarkable compared to his peers, destined perhaps for quiet service as a Knight of the Dawn, but nothing more. He was knighted by his master on his deathbed and made for the Hall of the Sun in Goldhearth, which he still had not visited after years as a Squire.
#### Life
Without a mentor to guide him or duties to weigh him down, Hugh came into his own. He trained tirelessly in the yards and fields, honing his martial skills in solitude and practicing a style of combat that prized patience and restraint over brute force. Never seeking glory, he avoided renown, his quiet humility leaving him largely overlooked among his peers. Yet his discipline and peaceful approach to battle set the foundation for the unique way of fighting that would one day make him legendary.
Everything changed for Hugh at the funeral games of Paragon Eryndor of Compassion, a tradition where Dawnwardens and Knights alike competed to honour the fallen Paragon and showcase their skills to the surviving Paragons, hoping to be considered for the empty role. Hugh, not yet twenty-five and still unproven, entered the lists with little fanfare. Against all expectations, he bested challenger after challenger - Knights, seasoned Dawnwardens, and even one former Paragon's protégé. His style was not born of aggression, but of patience and grace; he disarmed rather than struck down, and in each bout he showed mercy even in victory. By the end of the games, Hugh had defeated every opponent who dared face him, his name now spoken with awe across the hall of the Sun.
Though he had never borne the title of Dawnwarden, Hugh's compassion and unexpected brilliance made him the obvious choice when the seat of Paragon of Compassion was left unfilled. He took on the mantle of the Heart of Dawn, embodying not only Pelor's mercy but his gentle warmth, and reminding the Swords that strength lies not only in the arm, but in the heart.
